Zachary Farmer’s Market Goals:

• To provide high quality, fresh local produce on a weekly basis and to provide a direct-sales venue for area farmers, growers, and producers of local value-added products as well as sell handmade crafts, showcasing local artists and craftsmanship.
• To create a safe gathering place in downtown Zachary in service of the community and local businesses.
• To educate the community on the benefits of eating fresh, local produce and supporting regional agriculture and talent.

Rules and Regulations
Eligibility Requirements: 
All persons who produce food and agriculture products within the State of Louisiana are eligible to sell at the Zachary Farmer’s Market.  All vendors must purchase a permit at the City of Zachary Utility Cashier’s Office for $50.00.  This permit is valid for 6 months and is transferable.  Vendors must have the permit in possession at each market. Booth space will be 10’ wide, limited to one vehicle, trailer may be attached.   No alcoholic items will be allowed.  Any questions about eligibility should be directed to the Mayor’s Office at 225 654-0287. Vendors must have premises cleaned and vacated 30 minutes after market close.  City of Zachary will provide trash barrels and an on-site dumpster.

Market Time: 
The market will be held each Saturday, 8 a.m. – 12 noon, except in inclement weather. 

Tax and Licensing: 
There are no specific licensing requirements for vendors selling produce grown by themselves and selling directly to the consumer.  Jams, jellies, and preserves produced by the vendors themselves from their own produce and sold directly to the consumer are not taxed up to an annual sum of $5000 (Ref. Act No. 603).  Honey and honey items produced with the State of Louisiana are also included in this exemption.  Value-added products may need to be produced in a State of Louisiana approved and licensed kitchen/facility pursuant to Louisiana Law. 

Hold harmless clause and insurance: 
Each vendor is responsible for carrying his/her own product liability insurance if desired.  All vendors agree to hold harmless the Zachary Farmer’s Market and the City of Zachary for any loss, cost of damages or other expenses incurred.

Sole Discretion:  The Zachary Farmer’s Market reserves the right to make any and all decisions in the best interest of the market.  The Mayor’s Office has the right to refuse to allow any vendor to sell on market premises for just cause.
