The Zachary Food Pantry is located at 5640 Rollins Road. This new facility officially opened on Monday, June 10, 2013. 2013 marks the 25th Anniversary that the Zachary Food Pantry has been in existence. The pantry is staffed by 32 dedicated volunteer workers who serve 374 families a month in the Zachary community. The Zachary Food pantry distributes meals, sundries and paper goods every Tuesday from 9am - 11am. If anyone is hungry or a family is in need, contact the Zachary Community Center at 654-3164. All households must apply and be certified to receive monthly commodities, meeting certain income criteria. Adopted January 2014 - (Qualifications for families receiving food from the Zachary Food Pantry) - Must reside in the Zachary Community School District legal boundary. The twenty-six Slaughter residents identified as being currently served by the Zachary Food Pantry will be grandfathered in.
In 2012, The Zachary Men's Club donated a parcel of land to accommodate the new larger building. GM Builders of Baton Rouge built the new building for $306,200.00. City workers, Department of Public Works employees and the city's chief engineering firm, PEC, performed all of the sewer and water work. The Zachary Food pantry is owned and maintained by the City of Zachary. The local Zachary Rotary Club landscaped the building, as their annual service project to the community in 2013.
The Zachary Community supports this food pantry. Throughout the year, and in the Pack the Pantry Campaign, Zachary schools donate several tons of food, as well as local businesses, citizens, schools, boy scout troops, churches, The Rotary Club of Zachary, Men's Club, Zachary Firemen, Zachary Police Department, Legendz Sports Academy, and Louisiana Cattlemen's Association.
The Zachary Food Pantry is a non-profit , 501 (c) Corporation, governed by The Zachary Food Pantry Board. Board members include, President, Vince Giaccone, Vice-President, William Hodgkins, Secretary, Jackie Snowden, Treasurer, Francis Nezianya, Director, Reggie Dykes, and members at-large, Mr. Steven W. Browning, Jr. John Chaney, Mr. Tommy Daigle, Mrs. Johnnie Evans, Mr. Sam Johnson, Mr. Floyd Pelichet, Mrs. Sharon Phillips, Mr. Harold Prejean and Mr. Mark Marionneaux.

*A total of 384 volunteers donated/worked over 5055 hours at the Zachary Food Pantry.
*The Zachary Food Pantry served 1115 familes in 2013 vs 964 families in 2012.
*The Zachary Food Pantry purchased $59,726.53 from the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank & Associated Grocers for staples: (i.e. flour, sugar, corn meal, dry beans, tuna, detergent, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, assorted vegetables and fruit, etc.)
*A total of 42,758 lbs. of donated foods from the Zachary Community were received from individuals, churches, area schools, businesses, civic groups and Pack The Pantry Food Drive.
*The Zachary Food Pantry received $37,325.55 in miscellaneous cash donations. These monies come from: individuals, civic groups, area schools and churches.
