ZACHARY YOUTH BASEBALL REGISTRATION DETAILS

Baseball season is upon us and we are excited about new changes that will be taking place at the Zachary Youth Park Complex this spring.  We have completed many renovations at the ball park during the off-season and are ready to kick-off an exciting season.

Effective this season, USSSA regulations and rules pertaining to bats WILL BE  followed.  The biggest modification involves the bat regulations, which we plan to highly enforce.  USSSA bat regulations allow for both small barrel bats and big barrel bats.  ALL BIG BARREL BATS MUST HAVE THE NEW USSA 1.15 STAMP IMPRINT.  THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.  Small barrel bats must also have USSA approval written on the barrel.  There will be no change, however, in how the league is operated.  Other changes include starting the season at an earlier date.  We feel this will give us the best opportunity to prepare players for a great season.  We encourage you to sign-up online, as we will only have one sign-up day at the park.  Please make a note of the following dates:

Saturday, February 4th, 9am - 1pm - BASEBALL SIGN UP DATE for all ages at the park office, located at 1650 Mt. Pleasant Road (blue building to the far left as you enter the park).  Prices are $65 for ages 7 and up and $50 for for ages 4, 5 & 6. T-Ball is ages 4, 5 & 6.

Tuesday, February 7th & Thursday, February 9th - BASEBALL TRY-OUTS at the youth park.  Times to be announced.

Monday, March 26th - PROPOSED START OF THE 2012 BASEBALL SEASON

Be sure to check the calendar located on this site for daily updates at the park, such as baseball schedules, rain-outs and other events happening at the Zachary Youth Park.  Visit us also on Facebook at Zachary Youth Park. We are looking forward to an exciting and fun-filled year, so.........LET'S GET READY TO PLAY BALL!

Zachary Youth Park

With youth in mind, a popular attraction for residents and visitors is the City-operated Zachary Youth Park Complex, offering programs year around for youth and adults of all ages.  The Zachary Youth Park, located at 1650 Mt. Pleasant Road provides facilities for baseball, softball and football for children, a half-mile walking track and two soccer fields.  The park serves as Zachary’s baseball mecca for kids and high school baseball.  Zachary Youth Park is located on thirty-three acres with large pecan and oak trees for shade.  It has six baseball fields and three softball fields, as well as two covered batting cage areas and an indoor facility.  The indoor facility houses three batting cages, two pitching lanes, large locker rooms and a trainer facility.  The Youth Park hosts numerous tournaments annually and frequently offers players opportunities to showcase their talent in front of college and professional scouts.  Visitors can also enjoy picnic areas, located throughout the park and exercise on the shaded walk/run paths that circle our park.  There are three concession stands located through the park, which serve a variety of refreshments, as well as bathroom facilities.  The parking lot consists of two hundred twenty ample parking spaces and is handicap accessible.  BREC, Baton Rouge Recreation and Park Commission recently completed the first phase of 12 signature community parks on a 40-plus acre piece of land adjacent to the Youth Park.  The Youth Park is connected by eight foot sidewalks to the newly renovated Zachary Community Park, which includes an outdoor basketball court, three fishing lakes, two dog parks, skate park, two sand pit volleyball areas, hard-surface walking paths, picnic areas and pavilions.  Overall, it’s a great place for kids to play America’s favorite past time and families to enjoy a day of wholesome fun and fitness.
