Councilman Bruce Thornton

Bruce Thornton was appointed by Governor John Bell Edwards to fill the vacancy on the Zachary Council, representing District 4.  He was officially sworn into office on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  He will serve as interim until the election is held in November 2022.

Bruce Thornton is a life-long resident of Zachary and is married to Connie Thornton. He officially retired in 2021 from Baton Rouge General Hospital as Lead Network Engineer. Bruce is a graduate of Southern University with a BS Marketing Degree.

He is a member of Little Rock Baptist Church, where he serves on the Member Board of Deacons and is also a choir member.  He is a Board Member of the Zachary Men’s Club, where he served as Past President and Vice President.

Bruce and Connie have two children, Brandon, and Blair and four grandchildren.    

District 4 is bordered on its Western side by Cypress Bayou and on it’s Eastern side by White’s Bayou. It includes Zachary’s West End Subdivision (The Garden District), much of the 39th Street area, Hunter’s Point Subdivision, Zachary’s Historic Village, Stoneybrook, and The Cottages at Blue Heron Lake.
