FINANCIAL SUMMARY FOR THE CITY OF ZACHARY

For fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, Zachary operated a $31million budget based on the city’s three main funds – the general fund ($20million), the utility fund ($10 million), and the street fund ($1 million). The$4.7 million in road sales-tax funds Zachary receives annually from East Baton Rouge parish’s half-cent sales tax plus half-cent Green Light Funds must be spent on specific projects or saved but designed for others. By law, 3% of every dollar spent in the parish must be spent on beautification efforts. Of the remaining funding, 70% must go to new roads and 27 percent to road rehabilitation and repair.
