Thanksgiving Day is an official City of Zachary holiday. All government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 28th, 2024.
Solid waste collection by Waste Management in the City of Zachary will not be made on Thursday, November 28th. Waste Management announces the following route schedule delay due to the holiday: Thursday customers will be collected on Friday, November 29th, and Friday customers will be collected on Saturday, November 30th.
The voluntary boil advisory has been lifted following water samples taken after the completion of the water main repair, which impacted residents of Copper Mill and Cedar Bend Subdivisions as well as nearby businesses on Old Scenic Hwy. City of Zachary Announces Upcoming Water Service Interruption For Residents and Businesses Along Both Sides of Old Scenic Highway From CC's Coffee To Carney Road
Please be advised that, due to an emergency water main repair, water service will be interrupted TOMORROW, THURSDAY, November 14, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for customers in this area who receive City of Zachary water. This includes all properties within Copper Mill Subdivision, Cedar Bend Subdivision, and businesses from CC’s Coffee Shop to Carney Road.
As a precaution, the City of Zachary is issuing a Voluntary Boil Advisory during this period. This advisory is being issued solely as a safety measure due to a loss of pressure and is not due to any bacterial contamination.

The City of Zachary is excited to share the near completion of our Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system, with 99% of gas and water meters now upgraded and successfully reporting data. This new technology, which began rolling out in late 2021 with two base stations, now covers our service area’s 8,800 smart water meters and 5,700 smart gas meters. Over the past two and a half years, we've refined this system to provide reliable, efficient service for our community.
With the new Customer Portal, residents and businesses can:
- Track usage in real time, including hourly reads
- Make adjustments to manage costs, avoid surprises, and save money
- Set alerts for continuous usage or to stay within set consumption thresholds
- View and export consumption trends by day, week, month, or year
- Remotely monitor rental or vacation properties

The Regional Veterans Park and the City of Zachary are thrilled to present Zachary’s First Annual Veterans Day Parade, scheduled for Monday, November 11th, at approximately 9 a.m. The “Zachary Salute to Veterans Parade” will follow the Regional Veterans Park’s Annual Ceremony and begin at the Bank of Zachary, concluding at Zachary High School. Veterans of all ages are warmly invited to participate, with local antique car owners generously offering their vehicles to honor them along the parade route.
The antique cars will depart immediately following the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Regional Veterans Park, located behind Lane Hospital. Local antique car clubs are also coming together to support veterans in the parade. If you own an antique car and would like to drive a veteran along the route, please contact Darren Spears at darren.spears@zacharyschools.org or pick up a “Driver Form” at City Hall, 4700 Main Street.

Trick-or-treating in the City of Zachary will be held on Thursday, October 31 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Halloween night. Here are some tips for staying safe while trick-or-treating:
- Wear light-colored clothing and costumes
- Add reflective tape to your children’s costumes and bags
- Walk in well-lit areas
- Take a flashlight or glow stick
- Stay in groups of two or more
- Use a familiar well-lit route
