Mayor McDavid Announces 2025 Annual Community Prayer Luncheon

Mayor David McDavid is pleased to announce the 2025 Mayor’s Community Prayer Luncheon, to beheld on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.

This year’s theme, “Thrive in 2025,” will focus on the importance of setting good goals, pursuing them with faith, and living a life that thrives in alignment with God’s purpose.

The featured guest speaker will be Sid Bream, former Major League Baseball player and Christian motivational speaker. Bream played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, and Houston Astros, appearing in four consecutive National League Championships and two World Series.

He is best remembered for his legendary game-winning slide in the 1992 National League Playoffs, a moment that propelled the Braves to the World Series and remains one of baseball’s most iconic plays.

Since retiring from professional baseball, Bream has dedicated his life to sharing his faith and inspiring others. His motivational talks center around:

  • Faith and Values - Living a life guided by Christian principles.
  • Perseverance – Overcoming challenges and setbacks with determination.
  • Teamwork and Leadership – The importance of working together to achieve success.
  • Character and Integrity – Upholding honesty, humility, and strong moral values.
  • Inspiration from “The Slide” – Using his famous moment as a lesson in finishing strong and trusting God’s plan.

The luncheon will also feature entertainment by the Zachary High School Jazz Band and Choir and First Baptist Church Zachary Praise Team.  A complimentary fish fry lunch will be served, and doors will open at 11:00 a.m.

Mayor McDavid encourages the community to come together for a time of fellowship, worship, and inspiration at this special annual event.
