Upgrades to help traffic move more smoothly through Zachary are on the way. The City recently accepted bids for two major intersection projects: extending the southbound turning lane on Church Street at Old Scenic Highway, and the northbound turning lane on Main Street at Plank Road.

In the coming weeks, you’ll notice red cones at both intersections as crews begin the excavating and cutting phase. These improvements are funded through the City of Zachary’s dedicated street funds. Mayor David McDavid noted that traffic often bottlenecks at these locations, creating long lines for turning vehicles. Once complete, the upgrades are expected to significantly ease congestion and improve travel for drivers.
