After careful consideration and conversations with our local meteorologists, the City has decided to cancel the Mistletoe on Main event scheduled for tomorrow night. We know this is disappointing, but don’t let the rain dampen your holiday spirit!
This Saturday, December 6th, the Zachary Christmas Parade will roll at 1:00 PM — and we invite you to make a full day of fun in Downtown Zachary!

Due to inclement weather, the start of the Zachary Christmas Parade has been delayed. The parade will now begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th, instead of the originally scheduled 10:00 a.m. start time.

🎄 It’s that magical time of year — the 2025 Zachary Christmas Parade is almost here!
This year’s parade will feature 56 floats, dancers, cheerleaders, and more to bring the holiday spirit to life.
Theme: Christmas Movie Spectacular
Date: Saturday, December 6, 2025
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Route: Church Street Park to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
Parade Length: Approximately 1 hour of festive fun
Road Closures: Streets along the parade route will begin closing at 8:45 a.m.

On Veterans Day, the City of Zachary proudly installed the new Veterans Parkway sign above the existing West Park Road, guiding residents to the Regional Veterans Park. “We were honored to rename the street in recognition of the veterans who, because of their service, allow us to live freely,” said Mayor David McDavid.
The unveiling took place immediately following the Annual Flag Raising Ceremony on November 11th and marked the official start of the Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Zachary.
L.J. Baker, Chief Strategic Initiative Officer at Lane Regional Medical Center, Frank Corcoran, CEO of Lane Regional Medical Center, and Mayor David McDavid joined together to reveal the new sign. “Renaming West Park Road to Veterans Parkway is a powerful tribute to the brave men and women who have served our nation. As a veteran, I’m honored to be part of this moment alongside Mayor McDavid. This new name will stand as a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made and the gratitude we owe our veterans," said L. J. Baker.

Employees from the Mayor’s Office, Tradebe Environmental Services and Sherwin Williams joined forces to restore one of the city’s iconic landmarks during a community day of service.
The historic, old townhall in Zachary, Louisiana got a fresh look today after volunteers from the Zachary Mayor’s office, Tradebe Environmental Services and Sherwin Williams spent the day renovating the nearly 100-year-old building.
The plans for the 1,000square foot building were approved in 1930, and it was completed in 1931 for$4200. It housed the fire engine, jail cell, mayor’s office, and council meeting room.
"The City of Zachary is proud to partner with Tradebe Environmental and Sherwin Williams to restore the Old Town Hall, one of our community’s most treasured landmarks. Their generous support ensures that this historic building—home to priceless artifacts, stories, and traditions—will continue to inspire and connect generations to come. Together, we are preserving the heart of our city’s past while giving it a fresh new look for the future," said Zachary Mayor David McDavid.
“It is truly an honor for Tradebe Environmental Services to collaborate with the Mayor’s office and Sherwin Williams to re-imagine this historic building. Tradebe has facilities across the country, and it is especially important for us to volunteer and invest in the communities where our employees live, work and play. The transformation of the Old Town Hall has been fun to watch. I am thrilled we played such an integral role” said Oriol Mateu, US CEO of Tradebe Environmental Services.
Along with volunteering their time, Sherwin Williams of Zachary also donated brushes, rollers, and more than twenty gallons of paint to support the initiative.
Currently, the building is a museum with archives containing exhibits about local people and places, antique books as well as the original Council table where the aldermen met monthly.

On Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 a.m. The 17th annual Veterans Day flag-raising ceremony will take place at the Regional Veterans Park behind Lane Regional Medical Center, 6300 Main Street in Zachary. The annual event, which began at Bank of Zachary’s main office on Main Street, moved to the veterans’ park upon its completion in 2016.
LTC (Ret.) Darren T. Spears will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and LTC (Ret.) Lawrence J. Baker, who is a veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), will offer remarks during the program. LTC (Ret.) Baker serves as the Chief Strategic Initiatives Officer and Director of Physician Recruitment at Lane Regional Medical Center.
Cadets from Zachary High School Army Junior ROTC Bronco Battalion and Cub Scout Pack 46 and Boy Scout Troop 46 will provide the flag detail.
Former Band of Blue member and current LSU Tiger Band member Ryan Venable will serve as the program’s bugler and will play the “Call to Colors” and “Taps.”
Zachary High’s band and choir, under band director Donny Alexander and choir director Cierra Fountain, will perform patriotic music selections.
Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

🌟 Today, October 15, is White Cane Safety Day, also known as Blind Americans Equality Day. This day honors the white cane as a vital tool of independence for people who are blind or visually impaired. The white cane not only provides safe navigation but also symbolizes equal rights and access.
🚦 Did you know? By law, individuals using a white cane have the right-of-way in every state. Raising awareness of white cane laws helps create safer streets and sidewalks for everyone.
At last night’s Council Meeting, Councilwoman Jennifer Landry presented a proclamation recognizing White Cane Safety Day in the City of Zachary to Anna Claire Gayle, a strong advocate for the rights of the visually impaired.

At last night’s Zachary City Council Meeting, Councilman James Graves honored several incredible women who are breast cancer survivors: Tamara Dayton, a Zachary resident, along with his family members Diane Moran, Letha Pfister, and cousin Deshore Pfister. These strong women shared their survival stories and reflected on the breast cancer trait that runs in their family.
Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women, impacting families and communities across the nation, including right here in Zachary. Early detection through regular screenings and public awareness is key to improving survival rates and saving lives.
Councilman Graves emphasized that the City of Zachary stands with survivors, honors those we have lost, and remains committed to raising awareness. 💕
👉 On Thursday, October 23rd, Mayor David McDavid encourages every Zachary resident to wear pink for Pink Out Day in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness.
👉 Then, on Thursday, October 30th at 11:00 a.m., join us for a Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit! Stop by the City Annex Parking Lot (4650 Main Street) and purchase a delicious chicken and sausage gumbo lunch. All proceeds will support breast cancer awareness efforts. 🍲🎀
