City of Zachary to Break Ground on New Police Station

Zachary, LA (February 2023) – The City of Zachary announces the construction of a new police station and training center. The 21,000 square foot facility is a much-anticipated upgrade for the Police Department who has been sharing facility space with the Zachary City Court for over 35 years. “I have watched firsthand as the department has outgrown the building, having worked in the police department complex for the past 34 years,” stated Darryl Lawrence, Police Chief, City of Zachary. “I want to thank the prior administration and city council for allowing us to be a part of all aspects of choosing the architectural firm that designed the new building and selecting the location.”

The new station will house the entire police force under one roof and provide more storage as well as an in-house training center that will be an asset to the health and wellness of the members of the force. The city is expecting to break ground on the new station this month, and the facility should be completed by the end of 2024. Grace Hebert Curtis Architects was selected as the architectural firm for the new station, and financing for the project was provided by Government Capital Corporation of Southlake, Texas.
